Another tip here is to create sub-lists from your list of buyers and make separate lists for the different products they buy. You will then be able to target your emails even better. For example, if your buyer buys a product on Traffic then put him on a sub-list for Traffic Buyers and promote another Traffic product to him. Chances are he’ll buy. Now I am going to go into more detail about the importance of headlines, what your body copy should contain and all the relevant information you need to successfully use email marketing.

In an article on email marketing elsewhere on the site I told visitors to my site how I had a list of 2,500 in the weight loss market but made nothing from the list, even though I emailed them once a week with good, free information and occasionally tried to sell to them. I think I didn’t sell to them enough. I think they became so used to good free stuff they didn’t expect to buy anything.

Notice the way I said I think. I didn’t know what was happening and that’s why I couldn’t do anything about it. This is why this series of guides is of paramount importance and why it comes next in order of reading priority. You see it’s no good you having a list if the money isn’t in the list, is it? All the gurus say the money is in the list but it’s only in the list if you can successfully email market to that list so that your subscribers buy from you and buy and buy again. After all, you are running a business. This is not a hobby. It is a business. You want to make extra cash but in the long run you want a hugely successful business that can replace your job.

So, how do you get your subscribers to first of all open your emails? The answer is simple: you must entice them with a compelling headline. Again I have a series of four articles on the site that go into detail about the importance of great headlines. Refer to these articles as they compliment what I have to say here.

Now in my emails template I suggest not trying to sell anything until the fifth or sixth email. You should, of course, give away more useful information either in the body of your email or with a link to a report they can download. Other marketers work a different system and they do it because it works. You have to constantly test in this business. If your emails are not being opened you’ve failed at the first hurdle. What’s the answer: change the headline, of course.

A successful marketer starts selling from email 2 but he does it in a very subtle way. He offers a free product that can be given away but it has links to his other products. If the subscriber sells any product he gets 75% commission. Cunning, eh?

His next email is sent 3-4 days later and it offers a product at a discount. This is then followed by an email that gives away a product that can also be given away or even resold. Even here there is a cunning plan going on as the report contains links to even more products.

The next email continues the pattern but with a difference. It is a product that the marketer hasn’t created but rather uses himself and finds very useful. He recommends it to his subscriber and if he buys the marketer receives 60% commission from the owner of the product. The subscriber doesn’t mind about this as the overall impression is of trying to help the new subscriber.
